Empty bus colides in crash in Manitou area

An empty  Tacoma School District bus and a car collided Friday in the Manitou neighborhood on South 64th Street.

Two children who were passengers in the car were taken to a local hospital to be checked but there appeared to be no major injuries, according to a Tacoma School District spokesman.

The bus driver also sustained minor injuries, the spokesman said.

Tacoma police and the Tacoma Fire Department responded to the 8:30 a.m. collision near South Mason Street.  The car apparently pulled out from an alley and collided with the bus, the school district spokesman said. The driver of the car was taking the two children to nearby Manitou Elementary School when the crash occurred.
